What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the age-adjusted incidence rate for colorectal cancer. Rates are for invasive cancer only, unless otherwise specified.

Why this is important: Colorectal cancer—cancer of the colon or rectum—is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. In the U.S. in 2009, it is estimated that there will be 106,100 new cases and 49,920 deaths from colorectal cancer.

Technical note: The distribution for this indicator is based on data from 56 California counties. Rates were not calculated for counties with 3 or fewer reported cases.
